Nestled in the heart of Te Atatu stands Lil Red's Barbershop formally known as Red's Traditional Barbershop. Since its inception in 2018, Red's had become more than just a place for haircuts, it's a community, a group of friendly faces and a vibe.

 

The tale of Lil Red's began with Red, the OG owner of Red's Traditional Barbershop. Red's passion for his craft was as fiery as his hair. When Oli, a spirited young lad with dreams of mastering the art of barbering, first approached Red seeking employment, he was given a broom but no pay. But Oli's determination knew no bounds and he proposed a daring plan to Red: he would work for free for three months, determined to prove his worth through sweat and dedication. Intrigued by Oli's audacity and captivated by his unwavering resolve, Red agreed to the proposition. And so, Oli embarked on his journey, immersing himself in the world of barbering.

 

In 2020, Oli graduated from barber school, and started full time at Red's armed with new found knowledge and confidence. His dedication impressed Red, who took him under his wing, sharing the tricks of the trade and guiding him with wisdom honed over years of experience. Together, they sculpted hair into works of art. As the weeks turned into months, Oli's hard work and talent began to shine and Red decided Oli would be his prodije and eventually take over the business from him.

Fast forward to 2023 and Red was Red-y to go explore the wild world of film. With Red's 3 year long blessing, Oli assumed the role of owner and operator of the Barbershop, carrying on the legacy through the new found brand "Lil Red's Barbershop".

Today, Lil Red's continues to thrive in the bustling streets of Te Atatu and in the wider Auckland areas through their work with Rainbow Youth, Mullet Matters and the Mental Health Foundation. Under Oli's leadership, the barbershop remains a place where everyone is welcome and amidst the buzz of clippers and the hum of conversation, you'll find not just great haircuts, but a slice of home in every snip and shave.
